This opera was designed around the idea of irreversible change. The set is inspired by columnar basalt, volcanic rock formed when lava cools and hardens into a new structure. That process became the central metaphor: after rupture, something can return, but never in the same form. The same rock landscape transforms throughout the opera, shifting from open and alive to compressed, luminous, and threatening. By the end, the world continues, but it does not return to where it began.
